Paul Weintraub’s passion for flying began in his teenage years when he first started taking flying lessons. Though life’s twists and turns temporarily paused his aviation pursuits, the dream never faded.
In 1995, while working in France, Paul completed his flight training and earned a French private license. His return to the United States in 1999 marked a significant milestone as he converted his French license to its USA equivalent and began flying out of White Plains.
The year 2000 brought Paul to the Philadelphia area, where he started flying out of Hortman Aviation, now known as Legacy. His dedication led to numerous achievements: an Instrument Rating in 2002, Commercial Certification in 2003, and becoming a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) in 2004. Paul continued expanding his expertise by adding a Multi-Engine rating, Instrument Instructor rating, and a Tailwheel endorsement. He taught at Hortman Aviation until Herb Hortman’s passing in May 2015.
Following this unfortunate event, Paul moved to Air-Mods at Trenton-Robbinsville, where he instructed for four years. In 2016, his journey took a new turn when he became a partner in a Piper Saratoga based at PNE. By the summer of 2019, Paul had joined Tailwinds and began instructing there, continuing to share his passion and knowledge with aspiring aviators.
Throughout his extensive career, Paul has accumulated approximately 3,500 total flying hours, with 2,300 of those hours dedicated to instruction. His story stands as a testament to perseverance, passion, and the pursuit of dreams despite obstacles. From teenage flying enthusiast to seasoned instructor, Paul Weintraub’s journey inspires all who aspire to soar the skies.
