In 2019, Tailwinds Founder Howard Cooper was approached by Frankford High School in Northeast Philadelphia to discuss providing flight training for students in Frankford’s Aviation Academy. The Philadelphia School District started with funding three (3) students through their flight training in the inaugural class of Fall 2022. This training complements the aviation classes and education Frankford High provides as part of their STEM program. Through this partnership, Tailwinds Academy of Aviation found its calling: to be a nonprofit providing full scholarships and expanded career opportunities for Philadelphia youth.

Tailwinds is committed to sponsoring each high school student’s flight path from start to finish.
